Tavern Guild Bowling League

Tavern Guild Invitational Bowling League was founded in 1997 and is a friendly non-competitive organization.  The Tavernguild is sanctioned with the United States Bowling Congress (USBC)

We are an LGBTQ+ diverse organization with members from all walks of life and we welcome all to participate in our sport in a safe environment among friends and family.  Our family has something for everyone, whether you're in your 20's or your 80's we welcome you to join us!

Only the third League President since it's inception, Eric Ott took over the reigns in 2014 and has been running things ever since.  Eric started out as a bowler which is where his nickname "Snooky" came about.  Snooky became the Vice President in 2012, adding Web Master to his title in 2013. Along the way, Eric became a board member of USBC, and has now been a seated USBC board member for 15+ years.  In addition to all this, Eric also has been involved with the Los Angeles Silver Screen Invitational Bowling Tournament, now in year 34, since 2015.  For the 6 years that the tournament was held at PINZ in Studio City, Eric was the Director of the Lassi tournament, putting on highly successful tournaments that sold out the house 5 of the 6 years.  During most of that time, Eric was the Director of Leagues and League Operations at PINZ.  Eric is still the Co-Director of the LASSI tournament and actively runs the 6 mini tournaments throughout the year which are currently held at Cal Bowl, in Lakewood, CA.

Of the Tavernguild, Eric says, “we are currently the only USBC sanctioned LGBTQ+ bowling league in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. We have bowlers aging from 21 to 91 (YES, 91!!) actively participating. We have members who have been bowling with the Tavernguild since it was formed 30 years ago, and we hope to have all of our members for another 30 years!  We consider our members a part of our family. We don’t care about labels or pronouns.  We care about respect for the other members of our family and that our members enjoy themselves in a safe environment.

Eric continues, “it’s taken years, but now it’s a well-oiled machine and everything operates the way it should with the help of so many on the league.  From our officers who help out with so much of the administrative aspects to the people who help run the side games to those who have made suggestions of ways to improve the action and to all of our present and former members, the Tavernguild would not be what it is today without every person that we have had the pleasure to call a part our TGL FAMILY”.

And so, starting a new chapter in the TGL, we have relocated to a new home, CORBIN BOWL.  More exciting news to follow.
